While my Mom was visiting last week we went on several outings and I have pictures of each of them. I will put up the pictures on each of my blogs for the next few days.
This particular trip was to Randolf Air Force Base. Apparently there are about 3,000 air force bases in San Antonio. I've only been to two - but this one is the coolest so far. Lackland AFB, where we are, looks a lot like BYU student housing. The buildings are all super old and there are these big expanses of half-dead grass everywhere. But Randolf was really cool! This is a flight-training base where new pilots first learn to fly planes. They might have fighter jets there, but we didn't see any. All of the buildings on this base look like old white spanish buildings with red tile roofs. There are tons of trees and they probably have sprinklers because the grass is all really green and nice. We really had a good time driving around and looking at planes. Derek freaked out everytime he saw a helicopter - which was a lot of times.
This building is kind of the welcome center building. Apparently the tower is actually a water tower.

Polygamist Update: They aren't doing anything cool. The kids just load up the car with lots of overnight looking stuff - pillows and things and then go off with the older lady for a couple of days and then they all come back. I think that the younger lady and the older son stay home all day every day. They are still wearing those pioneer dresses.
